  • Expert, independent artisans. Carefully curated for the quality of their craft.
  • Notre-Dame de Paris & Southern Marais District

In our Notre-Dame food tour, we echo a sentiment from Brillat-Savarin's The Physiology of Taste: "The discovery of a new dish does more for the happiness of mankind than the discovery of a star."

We believe in the joy of uncovering new culinary marvels and exploring the rich history of the places they come from. That’s why, in the heart of Paris, we've carefully selected expert artisans, including a Meilleur Ouvrier de France, for whom culinary excellence goes hand in hand with the joy of sharing their passion, craft, and knowledge, all while admiring some of Paris’ most beautiful landmarks.

On what we consider one of the most charming walks in Paris, stretching from the Place des Vosges to Notre-Dame de Paris, you will immerse yourself in the area's rich culinary heritage, where gastronomy, architecture and hospitality have played central roles for over a thousand years.

Detailed Overview of Notre-Dame

French Gastronomy and Wine Tour

What you will taste

You will taste a selection of traditional French specialties, including fine chocolates, viennoiseries, pissaladière, pâté en croûte, quiche Lorraine, charcuteries, cheeses, and more, all crafted by expert artisans, including a Meilleur Ouvrier de France and renowned pastry chefs. You’ll also savor fine wines alongside small-batch farm treasures from Ardèche.

What you will see

The tour begins at the southern edge of Le Marais, where you'll explore the iconic Place des Vosges, the second oldest square in Paris. Just steps away, you’ll pass through a hidden door beneath the arcades leading to the gardens of l'Hôtel de Sully, the residence of Henry IV's finance Minister.

From there, you’ll discover the Église Saint-Paul, a stunning example of Baroque architecture designed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart, the architect behind the Palace of Versailles.

Continuing on, you’ll wander through the charming Village Saint-Paul and walk by l'Hôtel de Sens, one of the few remaining examples of medieval Gothic architecture in Paris. Then, you’ll cross onto l'Île Saint-Louis, where you'll discover the peaceful and off-the-beaten-path Église Saint-Louis before heading to l'Île de la Cité, to conclude your tour in front of Notre-Dame de Paris.

What you will learn

Our expert guides will share fascinating insights into the French terroirs, the history of Parisian monuments, and the men and women behind them. You’ll discover the stories and anecdotes behind each product you taste, and how they shaped the Saint Paul and Notre Dame area into the rich gastronomic hub it is today, where excellence has its roots in the oldest centers of gastronomy in Paris.

The stages of your Food Tour

  • First step

After meeting your guide in front of our favorite Parisian bakery, you'll start your tour with a French viennoiserie: a croissant, pain au chocolat, or a brioche, it's up to you to decide.

  • Second step

Shortly after, you'll taste a specialty from the south of France: La Pissaladière, a savory tart topped with caramelized onions and olives cooked in a rich umami stock.

  • Third step

Then, you will cross the Place des Vosges, heading towards the gardens of Hôtel de Sully through a hidden passage. Here, you’ll uncover the history of the second-oldest square in Paris and explore one of the most beautiful hôtels particuliers in the southern Marais.

  • Fourth step

After admiring the magnificent Église Saint-Paul-Saint-Louis, designed by the architect of Versailles, you’ll enjoy a Chou à la Crème: a Parisian interpretation of the Dune Blanche from southwestern France, filled with Madagascar vanilla cream.

  • Fifth step

Next, you’ll visit a Meilleur Ouvrier de France, the highest distinction in the country for culinary artisans. Choose among several specialties: pâté en croûte, quiche Lorraine, feuilleté au jambon.

  • Sixth step

Discover a hidden gem near Notre-Dame, where Laurent, a passionate artisan, selects products from small farms in the Ardèche region, were he was born and raised. Enjoy a generous tasting of cheese and charcuterie with two glasses of wine, along with olive oils, honeys, chestnut cream and spirits.

  • Seventh step

It’s now time to head to Notre-Dame, passing through the charming streets of l'Île Saint-Louis. Along the way, you’ll visit one of our favorite churches in town, often forgotten because of its proximity to the Cathedral. You will then enjoy your final tasting, fine chocolates from a Franco-Japanese chef, with a view of Notre-Dame.
