6th district of Paris

Saint-Germain-des-Prés

In the heart of Saint-Germain

The Left Bank lifestyle

Our initial workshops are situated in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, one of Paris's oldest districts, located on the left bank of the Seine. Its history dates back to antiquity when the Romans constructed a paved road that traversed the region. The district became a significant intellectual and religious center in the Middle Ages, with its abbey, founded in 558, becoming one of Paris's wealthiest and most influential.

Over the centuries, the area continued to attract artists, writers, and intellectuals. In the 20th century, Saint-Germain-des-Prés became home to renowned cafes and bookstores frequented by personalities like Jean-Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir, Francis Scott Fitzgerald, Boris Vian... It remains a symbol of Paris's intellectual and artistic life, known for its typical streets, essential sites and squares, restaurants, art galleries, and boutiques celebrating refinement and the art of living.

An historic courtyard

Our historic workshop

Our germanopratin ateliers reproduce the original spirit of the district. Located in an old historical paved courtyard we kept the charm and chose to adapt the space for our authentic pastry workshops. In here each of the participants is immersed into a world apart, at once intimate and surprising. We have recreated a cabinet of curiosities mixing childhood and voyager memories, old books and trinkets, and works of art from different eras, styles, and cultures.

Collapsible content

The Rue des Saints-Pères, located in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, is a historic thoroughfare connecting the left bank of the Seine to the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district. Its name dates back to the Middle Ages and likely originates from the Jacobin convent, also known as the "Convent of the Saints-Pères," which once stood there.

Over the centuries, this street has hosted numerous prestigious institutions, including academic and medical establishments such as the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts and the former Hôpital de la Charité. Today, it is renowned for its elegant buildings, luxury boutiques, and a cultural and intellectual ambiance typical of the neighborhood.
